Midget Girls: SGS/St. Pius
Quarter 1: Tip off went to SGS. They put it up but SP gets the rebound. On their possession, SGS steals a pass and goes in for a basket but rebound goes out of bounds and SP gets it back. SP tries to get inside but turns it over to SGS. SGS put sup the ball again and SP gets the rebound. They turn it over on an offensive foul but SP gets back on jump ball and is fouled trying to get it inside. SGS steals the inbound pass and heads down the court. They attempt several times to score but cannot. SP still tries to get it to their post players and SGS steals again. SP gets the ball back and shots from the outside, SGS gets the rebound. SGS turns it over with a double dribble and with no time, SP puts it up and scores at the buzzer.
Quarter 2: SP starts with possession. Jump ball is called and SGS gets the ball back. Both teams turn the ball over as they are determined to not allow each other to score. The girls continue to get the ball down the court as fast as they can. SP calls the first time out of the game with 5 minutes left in the half. SP is called for another offensive foul however SGS cannot capitalize on the turnover. SP buckets would not fall but they got the ball back quickly with ball steal. SGS did not let up as they went for the ball and got a jump ball. SP gets the ball and is fouled on the play. SGS is fouled on their next basket attempt and goes to the line. One foul shot is made to close the score to one point. SGS gets the ball on a jump ball. SP gets the ball back with a turnover. With 50 seconds, left SP tries everything but cannot get it in. SGS gets ball with 25 seconds and scores to go up by one. SGS leads going into the half.
Quarter 3: SP begins the quarter with the ball. They turn it over to SGS who puts the ball up. SP goes down the court but turns it back to SGS on a back court violation. They put it up but SP gets the ball back. SGS steals and goes in for a bucket. SP gets the rebound and is fouled in the process. SGS gets the ball and puts the ball up 3 times, the 4 th bucket is good and the player if fouled. The foul shot never goes off due to a SGS violation. SGS is up by 3 points with 2 ½ minutes to go in the quarter. SP calls a time out. SP throws the ball out of bounds and SGS gets the ball and scores from the outside. Now they are up by 5. With a minute to go and the clock running, SP puts the ball up and gets fouled. SP is at the line with less than a minute to go. SGS gets the rebound but fouls over the back on a rebound and gives the ball back to SP. With 27 seconds SGS calls a time out. At the buzzer SGS holds on to their lead.
Quarter 4: The last quarter opens up with a SGS possession. They shot the ball several times and never gave up with each rebound. SP finally gets possession and with patience the SP girls got the ball inside and scored. SP was fouled and made the foul shot. SP closes the score to a bucket. They steal the ball on SGS possession and get fouled. SGS gets the rebound but SP steals the ball and SGS steals it back. SGS puts up the ball on a rebound to go up by 4 points. The quarter is back and forth with both teams stealing and turning the ball over. Possession changes at each second. The girls on both teams never stopped playing the game until the last second. Final score SGS 9-SP 5.

SGS Coach was excited to share that his team has worked so hard this year. They are in the best shape due to playing all the good teams that they have come up against all year and in the tournament.
SP coach said that they pushed hard. Only six of the girls have ever played before. In order to make a team this year they had to raid the cheerleading squad. And look at us we’re in the tournament. Our girls have come so far from being able to a shoot free throw to even catching a ball. We are proud of them all!
Midget Boys SOS/St. Patrick’s
Quarter 1: Tip off goes to SOS. They go in for a quick basket but turn it over. SP goes down to score but SOS steals and then turns it back over to SP. SP scores first with determination and diligence. SOS goes down and puts up the ball and goes to the foul line for one. SP quickly gets down the court but SOS gets the rebound and SP fouls on the floor. SOS inbounds the ball and scores to take the lead by one. SP calls a time out to settle the boys down. SP takes possession and puts the ball up, but SOS gets possession on the rebound. SP fouls again on the floor and SOS get the ball under the basket. SP steals the ball but double dribbles and turns the ball over to SOS. SOS creatively uses the dribble and goes in for and goes in for and easy lay-up with a minute left. Next play SOS repeats the same play and scores again. To go up by 5 points. Time out is called with 22 seconds. SOS inbounds and SP causes a jump ball. SOS looses possession and SP runs out of time to end the first quarter.
Quarter 2: SOS begins with possession and turns he ball over on a travel. SP gets down the court quickly but turns ball back to SOS. SOS puts up the ball and SP gets the ball on a jump ball. SOS in bounds the ball under the basket for 2. SOS holds onto the lead. The boys work hard to get the ball both causing jump balls changing possession many times. SOS goes to the line with 3 minutes left and scores 2 more points. SP tries to score again by going inside. SOS gets the rebound but cannot score giving the ball back to SP. SP is determined to close the gap by causing SOS turnovers. In trying SP fouls SOS and puts them back on the foul line. SOS scores one point to secure the lead. SP struggles to get the ball to fall. However, their energy and enthusiasm shows that they are not going to give up at all. The half ends with SOS at the line for one. Jump ball on the rebound gives possession to SOS who scores at the buzzer.
Quarter 3: SP opens with possession and shots. SOS gets rebound but turns ball over on carrying the ball. SP boys keep up the intensity not allowing SOS to score for 3 minutes. SOS fouls on the floor twice. SP goes to the foul line for 2 points. SP follows a SOS basket with one of their own to cut the lead. With 50 seconds left of the quarter SP scores again. SOS turns it over at their end to give SP the ball back.
Quarter4: SOS brings the ball in but turns it over on a jump ball. SOS gets it back on a travel call. SP fouls and puts SOS on the line. SOS gets ball on the rebounds, but turn over to SP. SP scores on this possession and then steals the ball to go back down the court. With 4 minutes to go SOS leads. Time out is called as the fans from both schools chant their name. SP scores as they bring the ball in and close the lead to 6. Two minutes to go SOS on the line for one and get the rebound. SP fouls which puts SOS back on the line for another 2 points. With one minute left SOS is again on the line and they make both to secure lead by 11. SP boys fought till the last second. SOS prevailed and won. Final score SOS 23-SP 14.

SOS Coach explained after the game that his boys worked so hard for two years to get to this point. They run plays and work together so well. How can you not be so proud of them and their accomplishments? Coach also mentioned that he wanted to thank all the fans that came out today to cheer his boys to victory.
St. Patrick’s Coach mentioned that her boys played with so much heart today. This is the reason they got to the finals. She shared that last year this team did not win a game and to get this far this year is a tribute to them.
Jr. Girls SOS/St. Patrick’s
Quarter 1: Tip off goes to Sp and they score the opening basket. SOS follows with their own bucket. SP breaks the press and goes down for another bucket. SOS tries but turns ball back to SP. They throw ball out of bounds and SOS gets the ball back. SOS gets fouled on a shot from outside the arch. SOS goes to the line for one. SP is only up by one. SOS steals the ball back but travels. SP fouls SOS so possession changes again. Carrying the ball call against SOS gives it back to SP. SOS gets ball back but cannot score. SP gets fouled on their shot attempt putting them on the line. Jump ball is called on the rebound and SOS gets the ball back but turns it over on a back court call. SP turns the ball over at their end and SOS fast breaks and gets fouled. SOS puts pressure on the ball and forces SP to step out of bounds. SP executes their next play beautifully and scores a bucket to go up by 3 points. At the end of the quarter SP already has 6 fouls and SOS 3. With 3 seconds on the clock SP scores to go up by another bucket.
Quarter 2: SOS gets possession to begin the quarter. They took one minute off the clock trying to get it inside. SP gets the ball back and goes to the foul line for one. SP pressures SOS and possessions changes 4 times before SP scores a bucket. After a SOS time out, they travel and turn the ball over to SP. SOS is determined to get the ball back and steal. SP is called for a charge and SOS is at the line. SP get the ball back as SOS is relentless with the press. SOS wins back the ball but cannot score. On their next possession they execute the ball inside and score to close the gap. SP calls a time out. They loose possession due to a turnover. SOS looses the ball next due to a 3 second call. SOS girls will not let up and steal the ball from SP. SOS fouls and now sends SP to the line due to one and one. Off the rebound SP gets the ball back and atte4mpts to shoot 5 times getting fouled on the sixth attempt. Foul shots are no good and SOS goes down for their turn. SOS on the line for one. Jump ball is called on the rebound and SOS gets the ball but turns it over. SP tries to score on the fast break. With 43 seconds left in the half SOS steals a pass and tries to score. Sp gets the rebound but travels and gives the ball back with 16 seconds. SP is fouled with 8 seconds and goes to the line. With 1.2 seconds left SOS calls time out to set up one last play of the quarter. At the half, SP leads by 5 points.
Quarter 3: The quarter starts with SP possession. SOS came out on the court with heart and hustle forcing SP turnovers back to back. SOS scored on their first possession down the court to cut the lead to 3. SOS scores again to come within 1 point. They steal the ball from SP, but cannot get the go ahead basket. SOS fouls SP and puts them on the line; however they get only one point to keep the score close. SOS returns with a basket and foul. Game tied. SP calls time out with 3 minutes in the half. SP inbounds the ball and SOS backs off till half court. SOS steals the ball but cannot get the go ahead bucket. SP tries to go up but SOS gets the rebound and sails down for a bucket to go up by 2. SP scores on their possession tying the game. SP turns the rebound over on a travel. They get the ball back and score a basket and go to up by 2. SOS gets the ball but turns it back to SP on a travel. SP had a chance but lost the ball to a jump ball. SP causes a turn over and SOS starts to press again. SOS is successful in getting the ball back. SOS calls time out. Fans chant for each team as the whistle is blown to start play again. At the buzzer SP leads only by a bucket.
Quarter 4: SP in bounds the ball but looses it to jump ball under the basket. However, they get it back on a steal and fast break. SOS fouls to put SP on the line. No score change. SOS comes back with a fake and puts it up to tie the game. SOS steals but then travels giving the ball back to SP. SOS scraps for the ball and wins possession. The basket attempt is no good. SP turns the ball back over to SOS with 4 minutes to go. SOS scores to go ahead by two. SP turns the ball over by dribbling out of bounds. SOS calls another time out. SOS in bound the ball and put the ball up again. SOS goes to the line on the fouled bucket. SOS up by 4 points with 2 ½ minutes left. SP travels under the basket and turns it back to SOS who gets tripped up at their end. SOS goes to the line with on and one. SOS steals the ball and runs their slide play which puts SOS at the line again. Jump ball is called on the rebound and possession returns to SP. SOS returns with a steal and easy bucket to go up by 6 with 1 ½ minutes left in the game. SP calls their last time out. SOS gets the ball back on another jump ball but cannot score. SP tries to score from the outside as time is winding down. They score with 40 seconds. SOS calls their last time out as they lead by 2 buckets. SOS in bounds the ball but turns it over. SP puts up the ball multiple times but can not get the ball to fall. SP fouls SOS to stop the clock. With 12 seconds on th4e clock SP scores but SOS holds out. Final score SOS 22-SP 20.

SOS coach expressed proudly “We’re going to Disney World.” She was delighted to share the she has a deep bench. All the girls contributed to this special win today.
SP coach expressed that her girls played a great game. They executed well and during the third quarter the shots just wouldn’t fall. If the girls made their free throws it could have potentially been a different game.
Jr. Boys SGS/St. Patrick’s
Quarter 1: Tip off goes to SP who puts up a shot from the outside to score first. SGS comes back with their own bucket. SP is patient and works the ball around taking more than a minute off the clock. They controlled the possession for more than 2 minutes by getting their own rebounds. SGS finally makes a move and steals the ball and lays the ball up and gets fouled. SP calls time out with 3 minutes to go in the first quarter. SGS scores on a steal and goes up by 2. They get the ball back again but turn over the ball on a double dribble. SP cannot execute a basket as SGS gets the rebound and shots for 2. SGS goes up by 4 points. SP closes the score to 2 points with a swisher. SGS gets fouled on the floor at their end and then again under the bucket to go to the foul line for 2. The quarter ends with SGS in the lead.
Quarter 2: SP in bounds to start the quarter. SGS gets the ball but SP steals the ball and goes down the court. No baskets. SP gets the ball back on a blocked shot and executes a quick basket to tie the game. SP goes to the line for one. SP gets the ball again on a missed SGS basket. SGS scores inside to lead by 1 point. SP fights for the ball and gets fouled in the process putting them on the line. SP gets possession back with a jump ball. SGS gets the rebound and heads down the court. On their next possession SGS gets fouled on the floor giving the boys a little break while the clock is stopped. SP blocks SGS shot but turns it over as SGS turns it back over to SP. The quarter ends with SGS up by one.
Quarter 3: SP in bounds the ball but looses it to a jump ball. SGS turns it over in the back court to SP. SGS gets the ball back on a SP block and goes in for a basket. SP turns around and scores also. SGS goes to the foul line on their basket attempt and gets one. SP hustles for the ball. SGS fouls SP on the floor and gives the ball back to SGS on a missed shot. SP blocks SGS shot under the basket, but they take it back out to the perimeter and score. SP scores after a rebound to keep the score close. SP calls time out with 2 minutes to go in the quarter. When the ball is in play both teams work hard to get the ball up the court. As the quarter ends SGS scores and is fouled. The boys roll around and fight for the ball. SGS again at the buzzer to go up by 6.
Quarter 4: As the whistle is blown SP in bounds the ball but turns it over. SGS gives it back to SP on a travel call. SP tries to get it inside but kicks the ball and SGS picks it up. SGS shoots and gets fouled to go to the line for 2 points, which puts them up by 8. SGS fouls SP on their possession twice putting them on the line for a chance to close the gap. SGS comes back to score and go up by 2 more. SP calls another time out and gives the boys a breather with 4 minutes left. SP comes in and shoots a 3 to gain some momentum. SGS turns the ball back over on a missed shot. SP goes to the line again. On a rebound SP is fouled again and another player goes to the line for one. With 2 ½ minutes left SGS calls a time out as they are leading by 6. With a minute left SGS scores to secure their lead. SP continues to battle to the end fouling SGS at every possession they get. Final score SGS 24-SP 15.

Quarter 1: Tip off goes to SMS who shot but miss. SGS turns the ball over SMS who turn it back to SGS. SGS has not attempted to shoot 3 minutes into the game. SMS has taken all the shots so far but has not scored. SGS finally shoots and scores back to back buckets. SMS score their first basket with a 3 pointer. Then get the ball back on a turnover and score to take a 1 point lead. SGS cannot score as SMS hits another 3 point basket. SGS scores right before SMS calls a time out. SMS still leads by 2. After the time out SMS scores again as SGS can’t buy a basket. At the end of the quarter SMS is up by 4.
Quarter 2: SGS gets possession and scores quickly under the basket. SMS looses the ball to SGS who fast breaks and scores on a lay up. SGS tries to lay up again but SMS gets the rebound. SGS gets the ball back and scores on a back door play and a steal which puts them up by 6 with 5 minutes to go in the half. SMS goes to the line and scores one point. SMS gets the ball back and gets to the line again but cannot score keeping the gap at 6 points. SMS steals the ball from SGS however; SGS does the same and scores. Time out is called with 2 ½ minutes left in the half as SGS struggles to get the ball up the court. SMS will have possession at the whistle. Within 30 seconds SGS scores to go up by 10. Then repeats with another bucket. As the quarter ends SGS scores another lay up. SMS goes to the line with 11 seconds and gets one. SGS cannot get the ball in and SMS gets the ball. At the buzzer SGS is still ahead by 7.
Quarter 3: SGS begins the half with possession but SMS scores first. SGS scores right after to keep their lead. The ball goes back and forth. SGS gets to the foul line for one. As so does SMS for 2. SGS tries a fast break lay up and gets fouled. They shoot 2 free throws to go up by 14. SMS struggles to get the ball up so SMS calls a time out. SMS scores on the in bound play. SMS scores a 3 pointer next. SMS gets the ball again and scores a basket underneath and gets fouled. SGS calls a time out before SMS can get to the line. SMS makes the free throw and cuts the lead to 6. SGS doesn’t let them get too close with a basket of their own. SMS answers with another basket and possession of the ball. SGS comes back with a basket as SMS does the same. SGS is up by 6 when 3 seconds is called with 30 seconds on the clock. At the buzzer SMS puts up a 3 to close the gap to 3 points.
Quarter 4: The quarter opens with a SMS bucket and now they are only 1 point away. But SGS comes back to score to keep the lead to 3. SGS gets the ball back and gets fouled under the basket. SMS gets the rebound and gets fouled on their end. SGS comes up with the rebound and cannot score either. With 5 ½ minutes SMS scores another three to tie the game. SMS fouls SGS and sends them to the line where they make the buckets to go up by 2. SGS pressures SMS and is able to get the ball but not score. SMS gets the ball back. Both times the ball goes out of bounds on SGS. SGS finally gets a rebound to stay in their hands and they go in for a bucket. With 4 minutes they are up by 4. SMS had to call a time out to save possession as SMS struggles to get the ball over half court. SMS passes the ball in and SMS tries for another 3 but the ball goes out of bounds. SGS turns it over to SGS on a long pass that went out of bounds. However, SMS gives it to SGS for an easy bucket. SMS returns with an attempt and gets fouled. SMS misses both free throws giving possession to SGS who turns the opportunity into another basket. With 2 ½ minutes SGS is up 8 when SMS fouls them which puts them on the line. SMS comes back with a bucket as does SGS. SGS steals the in bound pass and scores again and goes to the line. They miss the free throw but make the bucket off the rebound. With a minute left SGS is relentless and steals again to score. SGS leads by 15 with a minute left to go in the game as SMS calls a time out to strategize one last time. With 37 seconds to go SGS calls a time out to change squads. SMS does not give up as they attempt shots till the buzzer. They score with 6 seconds to go. Final score SGS 54- SMS 40.
SGS coaches shared that this was such a beautiful experience. They said that they cou8ld not have asked for more out of their girls this year. The 7 th grade team that they played today gave them a run for their money and it took the whole team to get the win and the championship.
SMS coach was so pleased with his team. To come to the finals as a 7 th grade team is quite a feat. Watch out for us next year!
Sr. Boys SJS/CTK
Quarter 1: Tip off goes to CTK. As they set up their first play they travel and turn the ball over to SJS who gives it right back. SJS steals and goes in for a lay up. CTK comes back with a jump shot to tie. CTK gets the ball back on a rebound but cannot score. Quickly the get it back from SJS and score a lay up. SJS attempts a 3 and CTK steals the pass for another lay up. SJS scores on a back door play and CTK gets possession. They turn it over to SJS who gets fouled on the basket attempt. SJS puts in one free throw and get their own rebound. CTK blocks the shot as SJS tries to take the lead. They prevail with a 3 pointer to go up by 2. CTK turns the ball over on a long pass down the court. SJS scores another three to go up by 5 with 3 minutes to go. CTK takes it to the basket on their next possession and gets fouled. CTK gets one free throw to close the gap to 4. SJS misses and CTK goes down for a lay up. SJS finally gets a bucket. CTK gets blocked but gets the ball back for a bucket. CTK is only down by 2 but fouls SJS and puts them on the line. SJS can’t buy a bucket which keeps the game close. As the quarter comes to a close CTK scores but so does SJS. SJS has a lead by 3 points going into the second quarter.
Quarter 2: SJS opens the quarter with possession but cannot score. CTK turns the ball back over to SJS. CTK tries for a 3 but SJS comes up with the rebound and scores. CTK blocks SJS shot and gets fouled on the next rebound giving STK possession. Time out is called by CTK. CTK tires for another 3. SJS comes up with the rebound but gets called for 3 seconds. CTK gets the ball back after a turn over and gets a 3 pointer to close SJS lead to 4. Then CTK gets the rebound from SJS and lays it up and goes to the foul line. They are within 2 points with 3 minutes to go. On CTK next possession they tie it up. SJS calls time out to regroup before the half. SJS scores after a few possession changes to get the lead back. SJS scores again with a minute to go. They get possession but loose it to 3 seconds violation. CTK tries for a three but foul on the rebound.
Quarter 3: SJS scores first after taking 2 minutes off the clock. CTK goes to the line for one. They attempt to get the ball back and do but turn it over. On their next possession CTK scores and then scores again on a steal. The SJS lead is down to a point. SJS calls a time out. CTK scores on a turn over to go up by one with 4 minutes to go. SJS goes to the line and scores one to tie the game. Violation is called on CTK so SJS gets another attempt to go ahead. CTK puts up a 3 to go up by 3. They get the ball back and put up another 3 to go up by 6. CTK gets called for the charge and turns the ball to SJS with 2 ½ minutes left. But they turn the ball over and CTK gets fouled and sent to the line. They get one free throw to go up by 7 points. SJS turns the ball over to CTK but they travel and SJS gets another chance. With a minute left SJS finally scores a bucket. They have a chance to score again but CTK blocks the shot. They get the ball and go to the basket for a foul. They get one free throw. CTK is back on the line for one and one. With seconds left SJS attempts a 3 but cannot execute.
Quarter 4: CTK opens up the quarter with a steal and a bucket. The lead is 8 as SJS just cannot get a bucket. SJS scores but CTK does as well to keep the lead to 8. SJS scores a 3 to come within 5. However, CTK gets one too. SJS follows with a bucket as does CTK. SJS calls time out with 4 minutes to go as they are down by 8. After the time out SJS scores a 3 and gets the ball back. CTK gets the ball but also is called for the offensive foul. SJS tries for another 3 but CTK comes up with the rebound. SJS turns the ball back over and puts up a 3 pointer but CTK does the same. CTK goes to the line but gets 2 more on a rebound. SJS continues to try for 3’s and gets one with 30 seconds to come within 2 points. Time out is called with 25 seconds. CTK in bounds the ball and gets fouled. CTK makes one to go up by three. They block SJS shot and get possession and are quickly fouled. They make both shots and lead by 5 with 10 seconds. Final score CTK 52- SJS 47.
